Collective worship remains an important and valued part of school life for many communities across England. At the same time, schools are increasingly navigating a more diverse, visible and complex educational landscape — balancing statutory expectations alongside safeguarding, inclusion, accessibility, pupil wellbeing and parental confidence.

For many schools, the question is no longer simply:

​

“Are we delivering collective worship?”

​

but increasingly:

​

“How do we deliver collective worship in ways that are thoughtful, inclusive, psychologically safe and workable for the whole school community?”

​

That question sits at the heart of a new professional learning resource currently being developed by Three Landscapes Learning Studio.

​

The course has been designed to support schools, trusts and diocesan settings in developing collective worship approaches that are:

​

• inclusive and invitational

• emotionally and psychologically safe

• accessible for pupils with additional needs

• professionally consistent

• legally and professionally informed

• practical for real school environments

​

The course explores areas including:

​

• safeguarding and psychological safety

• inclusion and accessibility

• pupil experience and belonging

• staff confidence and consistency

• parental communication

• withdrawal and engagement

• defensibility of practice

• implementation within diverse school communities

​

Alongside the course, schools will also receive access to a practical implementation toolkit containing guidance materials, review tools, communication templates and resources designed to support consistency across settings.

​

Importantly, the course is not intended to criticise collective worship or promote a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, it aims to help schools navigate complexity thoughtfully, professionally and with confidence.

​

The resource is currently in active development and pilot phase, with professional feedback being sought from school leaders, safeguarding professionals, inclusion leaders, diocesan teams and governance professionals.
